This year’s program will run from Wednesday 3 December to Friday 5 December with the Welcome Function on Wednesday evening and the Conference Dinner on Friday evening.
We welcome abstract submissions for oral presentations, panels, and posters.
We are seeking contributions that attend to the issues listed below through a global, national or local lens.
The call for abstracts closes on Sunday 31 August 2025, 11.59pm AEST.
While the conference invites papers on all themes associated with crime and social control, a core theme of the conference is breaking down barriers, with a particular focus on translational and transnational crime. Translational crime emphasises the importance of translating research into policy and practice, breaking down barriers between basic and applied research through effective communication strategies. Transnational criminology breaks down another barrier, these being national borders and examines how criminal activities (think, for example, cybercrime, illicit markets, trafficking) cross jurisdictions and borders.
We welcome presentations and sessions by practitioners and policy makers, as well as researchers.
We invite abstracts that fit this broader theme and the following sub-areas:
A Chair appointed by the Scientific Committee will introduce the speakers and manage the time. A presentation must adhere to the below instructions:
For presentations with more than one author, please name all authors in your submission (e.g., Author 1, Author 2). Only one submission is required for a group presentation.
Panels are 90-minute sessions that include between three and five papers addressing a central theme. Each Panel has a named Chair/Convenor who is responsible for ensuring that the contributors attend the conference. Presenters will have between 15 - 25 minutes, depending on the number of papers.
The Chair/Convenor is responsible for introducing and closing the session, managing the use of time within the session and to make sure that there is sufficient time for questions and discussion.
One person is responsible for submitting the following (all in one document). This person can only be the lead author on one symposium (they can be on other papers but not as lead author):
The length should not exceed 800 words in total.
One person should log in and define themselves as Author 1, and then add all the other authors as Author 2, Author 3, … Author n (n = total number of participants in the symposium or round table). Author 1 will be responsible for completing the online form including selecting the main theme and sub-theme for the symposium. Author 1 will be responsible for uploading the symposium overview abstract and the abstracts for each of the included papers (all in one paper). Author 1 will be the person with whom we communicate, and it is their responsibility to liaise with the other named authors.
Please adhere to the below instructions for submitting a digital poster:
The following are the specifications for your digital poster once accepted:
For presentations with more than one author, please name all authors in your submission (e.g., Author 1, Author 2). Only one submission is required for a group poster presentation.
Posters must be submitted at least 10 days prior to the conference, allowing our team to upload your content to our visual displays.
A workshop is a 90-minute session involving interactive learning and the dissemination of training and/or skills, rather than an extended lecture. Workshop organisers will be responsible for introducing themselves and managing time. Workshop organisers decide how much time each speaker will have. Please ensure that there is sufficient time for questions and discussion.
Please adhere to the following instructions for your workshop submission:
For workshops facilitated by a group of people, please name all group members in your submission (e.g., Author 1, Author 2).
